Detail:
Originally from Philadelphia, Singer/Songwriter Avi Wisnia presents an eclectic mix of refreshingly original songs, finding inspiration in classic Brazilian bossa nova, acoustic American folk, 1950’s west-coast jazz, and contemporary pop. Avi released his debut EP in 2007 to rave reviews. Critics have described his songs as "completely refreshing" and "lyrically brilliant." Imagine a performer who seamlessly fuses the piano virtuosity of Ben Folds, the subtle stylings of Norah Jones, and the heartbreaking melodies of John Mayer. A wordsmith as well as a composer, Avi's clever lyrics give a knowing nod to his contemporaries, while his smooth vocals assure you that this is truly something new. In addition, Avi believes in creating community through music events. He is the ensemble director for the New York Megaphonica and, in 2008, he created The No Brainer benefit concert, which continues to raise funds and awareness for the National Brain Tumor Society. He is currently recording a full-length album, to be released later this year.
